Activity...

Well there is still snow on the ground, which is making things difficult for me. I still have to finish painting the trailer (impossible in near zero temperatures), and I need to start planning carefully my weekends as there is not much time if I intend to test the bike at Ledenon the 6/7th March.

So, today I thought I would clean up my exhausts, the previous owner had put some white paint on them , which was not very neat and some rust spots were coming through, so a good coat of high temperature mat black plaint was in order. I wire wooled the surface to remove all the loose paint, and then treated the surface with Loctite rust treatment to ensure that the rust was chemically stopped, and then went on to spray the exhausts. I hung the exhausts to dry in the lounge, as obviously being outside in the cold wouldn't help them dry, and it is not recommended to paint in less than 5 degrees. I kept the spray cans in the house, and just did the painting outside, and as soon as they were finished brought then in to dry. I will put a second coat on tomorrow.

During the week, I also received my gearshaft thingy which should avoid the gear change shaft from moving when you press on it, thus making the gear changes more precise. I hope that this along with the modifications to my gear lever will make for a much better gear change. Of course I can't really fit this, because I would need to hold the gearbox to loosen the front sprocket which is not easy with the con rods sticking out of the engine! Hopefully I will get my engine back next week, although I didn't get any news last week from Mr. Dent hmmmmm. I need to chase him this week.
