Fairing stay

I think I am done, just need to balance the carbs tomorrow, and then we are ready for the weekend. There are a couple of wings which for the moment are screw on, but I may weld if they move.

fairing stays

Using my new found welding skills to make up fairing stays. I must say that making stuff for a purpose is far more satisfying than just running weld beads up a flat piece of metal. Also more difficult!

Actually getting stuff positioned and stable while you tack weld is a major challenge.

All the stickers are on thanks to Libby's keen eye and lots of messing about. Things left before the Easter outing are carb balancing and finishing of stuff.

Seat on

I spent this afternoon cutting and shaping seat foam and fitting the seat unit. Can't decide whether to add a bum stop or not. Probably not.....

RG500 Progress

Got my newly painted fairings back from the bodyshop, I am going for the same look as before (blue/white) but with the 2 tone blue/white on the tank, the guys did a pretty good job at a cheap rate so pretty happy.

I fitted the front mudguard, cleaned up the exhaust (rubber mounted) brackets, and fitted the tank, I am ready to start it up after I fill it with cooling water.

I am still trying to adjust the belly pan which took a bashing in my last crash, and which is key to get right so I can fit the side panels to get good position for the main top fairing stay! I am thinking of going outside the box with the belly pan brackets as I can't seem to get them right!

RG progress

Slow going, taken a long time to drill the holes for the RGV250 top fairing, and the side panels, I still need to make the belly pan fit better, in order to have something to attach the side panels and then work out where my fairing stays need to go.

Once that is done I can make final holes in the top fairing and then send to the painters. Time is running short....

TIG welding Aluminium

Still progress to make but I made a step forward today. Changed tungsten electrode to blue tipped (all rounder) and changed the welding rods to make sure I had the  right ones for Ali. Also had a chat with the guy about my high gas usage. He told me I was running too much pressure so I also reduced my gas pressure to 6-8 litres per min(?). Low and behold my first try and it worked pretty well. Really happy! Not all good but loads better I now feel I have a good base setting that I can  work from.

Daytona

I took the Dayto out today for the first time this year. The battery is still tired so I decided to change it out for a Lithium battery that I bought last year. When I got back from my first ride of the year, I swapped out the batteries in the Dayto and the Street. I also changed the oil and filter on the dayto (89334 kms). I'll leave it until 100k before I do the valves again.
